There is no single phantom. We can all be a phantom. We can all cultivate the Phantom Network. We can all be part of the Phantom Network.
PhantomNET is a small collection of services that live on Tor and Reticulum — a hidden git host, a library, a news sheet, and a broadcasting channel. It is not a company, a product, or a startup. It's a workshop that happens to be reachable.
The services below are run independently of one another. No single actor is responsible for any other's actions, and each site is the responsibility of whoever runs it. What binds them is a shared aesthetic, a shared address space, and a shared belief that the network should be quieter, cheaper, and more private than the one most people use.
Free, invite-only git hosting. Repositories are reachable over Tor. (Web and SSH) Work in progress to serve it over reticulum. Free accounts carry a 512 MB quota; donors get more.
A collection of PDF books — fiction, non-fiction, reference. Free, no account, no checkout desk. Download and read.
A small news sheet. Reprints wire copy from a handful of sources and adds editorials and reviews of its own. No comments, no tracking, no accounts.
Phantom Network Broadcasting Channel. An index of the network's TV and film channels, plus three continuous radio streams. VLC-compatible.
Everything here is reachable over two networks:
- Tor — each service has its own
.onionaddress. You need the Tor Browser or a Tor proxy to reach them. - Reticulum — a separate, lighter network that works over LoRa, packet radio, or plain internet links. NomadNet is the browser.
There is no clearnet mirror of the services themselves, with one exception: this page is also published at the.networkgho.st so people can find their way in.
If you're new to either network, start with Connect. If you want to know why any of this exists, read Network.
